When i first think of what could be meant by 'heat treatment' i think of using a flame and metal working such as welding and forging although i am unfamiliar about these processes. In terms of other materials it could incorporate would be heating plastics for bending which is something i did when i was in year 7 to make a tooth brush holder using a strip heater. As for wood, my initial thoughts are that heat treatment cannot be used on this material as it would catch fire? although i speculate i may be wrong with this assumption.
Starting points to look into;
- Why heat treatment is used in metal working? what are the different method?
- Types of heat treatment for manipulating Acrylics
- Can heat treatment be used on wood?
